The thickness of our pure carbon films depends on the mesh size and ranges between 10 and 20 nm. In spite of the thin carbon layer, the carbon films are perfectly flat.
Formvar?/Carbon
Formvar?/ Carbon films are Formvar? coated grids covered with a thin layer of carbon (standard carbon thickness 2-4 nm, thicker on request). Due to the better electrical and heat conduction they are more stable in the electron beam than pure Formvar? films.
Formvar?
The simplest support film on a TEM grid is a Formvar? coating. It gives users a high flexibility to adapt their support film to the specific requirements needed.
Lacey Carbon
Lacey Carbon Films offer a lacey mesh structure with a high percentage of open area. The hole sizes vary significantly and the bars are extremly thin.
Classic Holey Carbon
Classic Holey Carbon Films have holes of various sizes and shapes. In comparison to the Lacey Carbon Films the percentage of open area is lower. Because of the random arrangement and size of the holes Lacey Carbon Films are not well suited for modern methods of electron microscopy like automated data collection.
